The third international conference- KaSAM-2016 is being organized from October 17-20, 2016 for the first time in Pokhara, a beautiful city in western Nepal situated in the lap of Mt. Machhapucchre and Mt. Annapurna, by Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI) in coordination with Pokhara University, Pokhara, Nepal, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Institut für Polymerwerkstoffe (IPW), Merseburg, Germany. This is the first time Pokhara will host an international scientific meeting of this kind. This conference is focused on nano-structured and bio-related materials. This conference is going to provide a platform for young researchers along with the prominent scientists and academicians from all over the world. The conference venue is Mount Kailash Resort, Lake Side, Pokhara.
KaSAM-2016 is the third one and is continuation of its previous conferences held in Kathmandu in 2012 and 2014. Conference convener Prof. Dr. Rameshwar Adhikari has informed that this type of conference which is going to be held out of capital city will be able to encourage the youths and science doers. Consequently they will come forward to contribute in the field of science and technology and country will be benefitted ultimately. Dr. M. L. Sharma, Professor of Chemistry in Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal and member of the organizing committee informed the correspondent that around 120 research papers on recent advancement in material and bio-sciences will be presented during the conference. The technical program comprises of keynote lectures, oral presentations and poster session in the related field along with a special symposium on ‘Science, Technology & Innovations for Nepal’. A course on recent advancements in nanomaterials and its scope has been designed for bachelor and master level students from various parts of Nepal and will be conducted on first day of the conference.

Convener of the conference Dr. Rameshwar Adhikari who is Professor of Chemistry in Tribhuvan University, and also Chairman of Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI) organized a press conference in Kathmandu and informed that Nepal Chemistry Congress will be held in Kathmandu sometime in October 2017 on the occasion of completion of 100 years of starting of higher education in Nepal. Also Non-Border Educational Program Applied to Science and Technology (NEPAS) and conducting of summer school in Rubber Technology are in the plan and dates of the programs will be announced after the KaSAM-2016. According to the organizing committee a pre-conference workshop –‘Second Kathmandu Autumn School on Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (KASChem-2016)- Part I’ will be organized in Pokhara University on October 17th while the remaining two parts will be arranged in Birendra Multiple Campus, Bharatpur, Chitwan and Mahendra Morang campus, Biratngar as post-conference workshops.
