Young Scientist Summit in Kathmandu

Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) have emerged as the major drivers of national development globally. As Nepal aspires for faster, sustainable and inclusive growth, the Nepali STI system, with the advantages of a considerable demographic dividend, vast diversity of natural resources and the huge talent pool, will need to play a defining role in achieving the national priorities. Scientific research utilizes money to generate knowledge and by providing solution, innovation converts knowledge into wealth and value. In order to expedite the process of development and take our country towards new height of excellence, it is necessary that we take a process of massive application of science and technology. Nepalese youths were used in decade long so called peoples’ war in Nepal and thereafter when they found their aspirations shattered they are bound to go gulf countries for their livelihood. Many discussions will be held in 2nd Young Scientist Summit (YSS-2017) in order to find out the way for the role of youths in nation building.

YSS-2017 is being organized by Research Center for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST), Tribhuvan University in association with Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI) and Brainycube Research Organization. Coordinator of the summit Assistant Professor Khim P Panthi said that the summit is to promote the involvement of young researchers and students in science, technology and innovation activities in the country through research ideas and projects. co-cordinators Er. Aakash Deo and Kedar Nath Dhakal informed the correspondent that scientists and entrepreneurs from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and India are taking part in the summit along with the Nepalese youths representing different walks of society who have made science and technology as their career. The  second YSS motto is Our Young Scientists: Our Strenghth: Our Hope. It aims at identifying and recognizing the Nepalese genius minds and promoting their aspirations in the prosperity of the nation. Second Young Scientist Summit (YSS 2017) is going to be held on Magh 15 and 16, 2073 ( Jan. 28 and 29, 2017) at Kirtipur, Tribhuvan University premises in Kathmandu. It is hoped that outcome of the summit will help decision-makers identify where to focus funds and energies, and how best to direct limited resources to supporting young researchers and the innovation system of which they are a part.
