“Asian Way” as a gunnie means to peace : Lawmaker Dhakal

Lawmaker from Nepal, Ek Nath Dhakal advocated “Asian Way” as a gunnie means to promote peace in the world. “Peaceful dialogue and soft power approaches to peace is a traditional Asian way to address various disaggrements”, Dhakal added. Emphasizing in Asian values, Dhakal said that the Asian way is the one of the best ways to create harmony in Asia-Pacific region. Speaking at an international event in Hong Kong, Dhakal stressed on regional unity and cooperation for creating harmony in the Asia Pacific region.
“We cannot deny the fact that there are many challenges among us to stand as a harmonious region. Territorial disputes, interferences, inequality, corruption, terrorism, global warming , erosion in human values and moral decline, are few among many existing challenges we are facing as a region today. How can we overcome them?” Dhakal questioned.
Dhakal was on the opinion that harmony and prosperity come through the practices of the principles of interdependence, mutual prosperity and universally shared values. Dhakal endoursed participants to utilize Track II diplomacy initiatives when formal government channels find difficulties to identifying and solving problems.
Talking about regional harmony, Dhakal advised nations to encourage free trade, intercultural exchange, and other ways of enhancing partnerships. “It is no secret that multilateral and bilateral trade agreements benefit the economies of parties involved. However, for these to be successful we need to ensure that the principles of justice and fairness are practiced in these agreements.”, Dhakal said.
Dhakal was speaking at the “Filial Piety Leadership Conference” organized by Chinese People’s Federation for Peace and Filial Piety Association of Hong Kong in collaboration with the Universal Peace Federation Hong Kong. Former deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Pokin Polakun, Prof. Quanyi Zhang of China, Mrs. So Yuk Choy of National People’s Congress of China, Prof. Shirley Chan of Macquarie University of Australia are among other speakers at the conference.
Dhakal, President of Nepal Family Party and Federal MP of Nepal, who is on a 3-day friendly visit to Hong Kong, has also interacted with the members of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, the Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
